New Trek Kids Bikes! The Full Tour!

Hey again folks!  So here's our message of the month:

Sure we agree that every bike is a great bike in its own way, but if it's a TREK bike, well then, it's the GREATEST bike!  That good old "Back to School" season is in full swing once again and Trek has your back with a fully revamped line of kids bikes that are totally amazing as always.  Let's jump right on in and start the tour:

How about we do this in a nice orderly fashion and go from small to big on this one?  Deal?  Deal.

Let's start with the Kickster...

The Kickster teaches the tiny tots how to balance, scoot and steer in the most focused of fashions--no pedals or brakes or gears or chains or skidding and teeter-tottering on training wheels to get in the way of our youngest learners learning.  They're just like those crazy velocipedes of old...

...except they're the perfect kid size instead of stuffy aristocrat size.  Wanna see them in action?  Check out this video right here!

For the 12 inch crowd who are ready to get right into pedaling and braking, Trek offers up the Jet 12 in Matte Viper Red emblazoned with very cool robot men...

...and the Mystic 12 in Poodle Pink with Pink frosting!  Whoa!

For big Sis there's the same Birdie design scheme in the Mystic 16...

...except this color is called Bubble Bath Pink/Pink Rasberry!  Double Whoa!  For something a little different perhaps the more laid back Mint Pearl edition is in order:

For the Bro's there's the Jet 16 in either Black/Lime Green or White/Black/Viper Red:

Moving on to our Top Guns out there, the all aluminum, light weight Jet 20 in either Graphite/Sour Apple Green or Brass/Orange should prove to be the finest equipment for the mission at hand:

Then there's the steel framed Jet 20 S in Paramount Grey/Lime Green:

The counterpart to the Jet is the Mystic 20 in the dazzling new Mystic Jade/Sea Grass color scheme...

...and the tried and true Light Pink:

and in a steel frame there's the Mystic 20 S in Lilac/Rosa Purple:

For our 20 inch riders who are ready to move on to gears and shifters and suspension forks, Trek offers up the MT 60 in either "Seeglass" Dusty Rose or Blue Ink...

...and in the COMING SOON category there's the super fast, super light, rugged and race ready Superfly 20!  This things gonna be a rocket!

Moving up a notch in size to the 24 inch category for our taller, older, wiser riders we begin with the steel, 7 speed MT 200 available in either Rhymes with Orange or Seeglass Trek White/Sour Apple:

If a little more speed and road biking is your thing, how about the 7 speed kids FX?  Mechanically they're the same as the MT 200's but with an aluminum frame and slicker tires to help get those RPMs up a little higher!  Black or White...the choice is yours:

Moving right along to the MT 220, we find more options and more choices.  With this upgrade you get an aluminum frame, a front derailleur and a front shock.  Go faster!  Climb higher!  For boys there's Lime Green or Trek Black...

...and for girls there's Rage Red or Flaming Rose!

Now here comes the really crazy stuff, also in the COMING REAL SOON category there's the Superfly 24 in Black Titanite/True Blue:

As with the Superfly 20, the Superfly 24 is light weight, high end and race ready--chomping at the bit to tear up those trails, but what's that you say?  That's still not enough for you?  Well then how about a Viper Red Superfly 24D?

What???  Quite possibly the leanest and meanest 24 inch Trek bike the world has ever seen!  Outfitted with even higher end componentry and disc brakes!  This rig will surely leave the competition in the dust!  Like we said before, IT'S GONNA BE A GREAT YEAR!

For all you kids out there, little and big alike, be sure to get yourself a TREK bike this season.  With a little practice and patience and a lot of time in the saddle you might even get to be as cool as these kids right here!

Well that's all for now folks!  Happy Biking!

2014: It's Gonna Be a Good Year...

TrekWorld, the annual dealer event at Trek's home office is taking place right now out in Wisconsin but we're not there!  We're too busy!  We're stuck here at the shop toiling away on bicycles both old and new, sadly slaving over our hot work stands.

No worries though we'll be attending an even more exclusive event soon enough and we'll be sure to tell you all about it when we get back, but for now we're following along with all the unveilings and the new bike introductions as they come.

And that's what today's blog is all about!  Check out a couple of our favorite new Trek bikes for 2014!

First off all of those confusing and mix-up-able hardtail 29'r model names have been consolidated down to just one: X-CALIBER!

There's six of them though aaaaand they don't start with number 1 but with number 4, but you get the idea.

Check out the X-Caliber 4 in either True Blue or Viper Red!

Both of these models are totally available right this minute.  We've got one of the True Blue's on the showroom floor, and the real kicker is these bikes start at the amazingly low price of $549.99!  Come on down and check it out it's beautiful!

Here we have the X-Caliber 5 in two colors as well:

The X-Caliber 6:

With the X-Caliber 7 things start to get a little bit crazy:

But we're still only at a price point of $879.99!

The X-Caliber 8 for a more dressed up affair perhaps:

And finally the X-Caliber 9 priced at only $1319.99!  It's available in only one color scheme but oh what a scheme it is!

And secondly, here's a lil' sneak peak at the Trek Farley, Trek's venture into the fat bikes game:

It hasn't been confirmed 100% yet, but we're pretty sure it's named after one of Madison, Wisconsin's most famous exports, CHRIS Farley:

 the man,

the myth,

the legend...

Well that's all for tonight folks!  More to come very soon!  Happy Biking!

Sneak Peek at Trek's 2014 Model Year!

A few of Trek's bikes for 2014 have already become available, and well alright I guess we'll let you have a look.  It seems they're coming out earlier and earlier every year!  First off there's the new Fuel EX 29'rs that have everyone very excited.  They come in some pretty freaky color schemes too!  Scroll dowwwwn!

Then there's the all new Remedy 29'r available in the models simply known as the 7, the 8 or the 9.  Check those out too!

Now let's talk about the 2014 Trek models that will inevitably end up as truly the most popular world-wide.  First off there's a new look to their very sweet entry level mountain bike, the 3500...

Then there's the very cool new 7.4 FX Women's Specific Design flat bar road bike in a cool blue color that even has a cool name: "Nocturne"...

And finally, let's take a look at one that we've already got right here in the shop...the brand new Trek 820!  Same offerings and same price as the 2013 model but a very stealthy looking flat grey/red color scheme that's bound to turn some heads.

Well folks, that's all the sneak peeks we've got for you so far...usually it's not until August that we get such access to the new stuff but we'll keep you posted as it comes in.  Until then, Happy Riding!

Sing The Bike Electric!

Greetings!

This month, you are cordially invited to come and check out a couple of new bikes that we've got over here at the Madison Bicycle Shop (currently both of them are in our windows to be exact).  The first one is a demo of Trek's unique Ride+ system.  A bit about that from Trek's website:

Ride+ is a bicycle with a motor and battery. It provides a boost to your own pedal power, so you can ride farther, faster, and with less effort. Trek Ride+ bikes are the best electric-assist models on the market, with quick, predictable, easy-to-control power and a long-lasting removable battery that recharges at any household outlet.

Electric, done better
Fly up hills. Scoff at the wind. Haul a heavy load. Take the long way home. And do it all without breaking a sweat, thanks to the smooth, exhilarating power of electric assist. Unbelievably fun, undeniably practical.

Convenience
Easily removable high-capacity battery can be recharged on or off the bike. A standard wall outlet is all you need.

Ease
Just engage the Trek Syn Drive, choose your level of assistance, and go. Pedal as much as you want, and the bike will assist you as much as you want.

Quiet power
High-performance Silent Drive brushless hub motor delivers smooth, consistent power.

Smooth control
Syn Drive is the best electric motor control system available. Smooth starts, controlled stops, and a clear, multi-function display.

This year Trek has simplified the lineup with the three most popular, most practical platforms:

The T80+

The T80+ Lowstep

And their very unique cargo bike the Transport+

Come on down and try out this amazing electric assist system for yourself.  You'll be SHOCKED... no no no AMAZED by how well it performs!

The other very cool bike we'd love to show you is the Pure...

ooooh!  Look at that!  The lowstep version is also available in three other colors...

...and there's also a regular version available in two.

The reason this bike looks like some kind of gnarly lowrider is...because it is!  If you notice how, in the pictures up there, the cranks and pedals are kinda in front of the wide and comfy saddle, it's that positioning that allows the rider to be seated while also confidently flat footed on the ground while at rest.  You then also have a pretty nifty, forward pedaling position while riding.  It's sort of like a beach cruiser...but better!  Come on down and try out a Pure today!

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Trails to you!

(oh and props to Walt Whitman for the inspiration behind the title to this month's post)
